Who We Are
We are FreelancePay, we build payment and compliance tools that let contractors focus on their job, not the paperwork. Our headquarters are in Reykjavik but we also have operations in Akureyri.
Our Story
In 2023, founders of the company, Joonas Tuompo and Maarit Kaipainen, kept hearing the same complaints from contractors in Iceland, that they spent more time doing invoices and worrying about taxes than working.
Armed with backgrounds in fintech, accounting, entrepreneurship, and EU regulation, they launched FreelancePay: a cloud platform that turns every gig into a payslip - taxes and other mandatory payments reported and sorted in one click.
FreelancePay is an official service partner of Wolt in Iceland since 2023.
Our Mission
Our mission is to give freelancers and contractors financial super-powers. FreelancePay offers an easy, all-inclusive service for self-employed contractors, first in Iceland. We invoice and collect your contractor earnings, automatically generate payslips and report and pay your taxes and other mandatory fees and help you with any forms and applications you need to return as a contractor.
